Back
in summer 2007, a small band of people were bored of stuffy theatre
with expensive tickets, plays that didn't speak to them and uncomfortable
seats. So they decided to do something about it.
Tim
Price, Claire Hill,
Mared Swain and Ellie
Carter gave birth to Dirty Protest. Ever since it has been drawing
attention to itself, shaking up the arts world along the way. If
you don't believe us The Guardian called Dirty Protest "cracking"
and The Big Issue "spellbinding".
The premise has
always been simple.
First - Put established
AND wannabe writers on the same platform, give them a tight deadline,
the same topic and challenge them to create exciting, new work.
Second - Then
take it to the pubs and the clubs.
Not ones to stop
evolving we have held a Welsh language night, produced three new
plays for Latitute Festival, development productions of full length
plays. And now we are challenging writers to curate some of our
nights picking their own playwrights and theme.
